SG-1-20 (20" lamp)
Product Description
Like all SG lamps, the SG-1-20 has a built in reflector. Regular lamps (shown left) emit light in all directions, but almost all reflectors will absorb the UV instead of reflect it. By putting in a special reflective coating INSIDE the lamp (right), we can reflect the UV back to the project, before it even has a chance to pass through the glass. The result is up to 50% more UV output on your project. Add that to the superior output and patented technology inside, and you have twice the functional power when compared to any ordinary UV lamp. Patented, tested and proven.
Specifications:
19" long (20 with lamp ends)
Fits any standard F20T12.
Can be operated safely from 15W to 35W, tested to 100W. Center of performance is 25W.
Built in reflector, no special system needed for most applications.
Primary UV (97%+), 360-370nm. Secondary amounts in the 310-315nm and 285-290nm to insure bottom up curing.
Comparing a T12 to a T8
33% larger diameter 66% larger circumference (where UV is made)
42% larger area, where plasma flows to run cooler per watt
60% larger reflector, so UV covers much more area.
Many people are under the mistaken idea that twice as many watts creates twice as much UV, our tests clearly and loudly show this is not the case. It is a bit of a Bell curve and depends on the internal gas pressure, the surface pressure against the glass, and the phosphor blend itself. This is why we gas our lamps differently than typical lamps of the same size, to allow higher wattages. this is also why we use extremely heavy cathode / anode sets, so you can use them over a wide variety of wattages. Of course, the harder you push them, the shorter the life, but for time sensitive projects that require extreme levels of UVA, nothing best the SG series.
The SG-1-20 is designed for special applications that require a small size, yet the operator still wants very high watts per linear foot, and very high UV output. We've tested and experimented with short lamp T12 design for half a decade, and the SG-1-20 is the final result: a flexible lamp that uses 120 watt rated ends (the same as the 6 foot lamp!) so it can take just about anything you throw at it. Average life is 2000 hours, twice that of a standard lamp, but will vary depending on operating environment and how often it is cycled (more on/off cycles = shorter life). A little creativity will let you build a hand held unit, or you can permanently mount them in your UV curing/UV aging rig. In stock and ready to ship.
Note: This size is being phased out, to be replaced with our new 24" version
