Workhorse 8 ballast
Product DescriptionSix red leads (36") and one yellow lead (36") plus black (120v), white (neutral) wires (18"). Case ground. 120VAC/1.8A max draw. Size: 19.24" x 1" x 1.75", 34 oz.
This is one of the new generation ballasts, so doesn't have a fixed output, and instead the output depends on what you have connected to it. The benefit of this system is that you can power a great many lamps with this ballast; some which are certified, and some that are not but are common and tested. The amp draw will vary according to what you have connected as well. Some of the possible wiring configurations are:
4 foot lamps, 1" diameter: 4 to 6 F32T8 lamps. Powering 6, comes out to around 32-34w, powering 4 it comes out to around 40w each. Can probably power fewer, but wattage isn't tested in that configuration.
4 foot lamps, 1.5" diameter: 3 to 4 F32T12 lamps. Not fully tested, but seems to be around 40w when powering 4 of these.
6 foot lamps, 1.5" diameter: Several options here, including VHO lite if you power two lamps putting two red wires to each lamp, EHO mode if you power three lamps with two red wires per lamp, HO if you power 3 lamps with one red wire each, standard mode if you power 4 lamps. You can power more than 4 and they will light, but the UV output will be very, very low, so not practical for most applications.
Most people use this ballast to power 4 to 6 of the FR32 lamps, like the Curall 385, in order to create a large surface for curing items that are one foot x three foot, single surface, or for items like pool cures, and surrounding the item. It isn't as powerful as the Workhorse 7 if you want to just power 4 of these lamps, but it is a very flexible ballast for doing a great many things, or changing. See the wiring diagrams for basic wiring info, it is a very easy ballast to wire up.
|Solacure Means Quality|
Solacure ultraviolet lamps aren't just good, we guarantee they are the best. We don't use stock parts anywhere in our products. Our glass is a special blend, and more transparent to UVA and UVB. Our 32 watt lamps use 60 watt rated cathodes and are tested at almost 70 watts of power. Almost all our lamps have built in reflectors. All are designed to be overdriven to extra high wattages. We test, and test, and test our lamps.
We stand behind everything we sell and guarantee each will perform exactly to specification, or we will replace them. We don't want your business this week, we want it every week, and we are willing to earn it. There really is a difference in quality when it comes to ultraviolet bulbs, and Solacure tops the list.
